Privacy policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Realm. We are committed to providing a powerful music practice experience while respecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
2. Data We Collect
Account Information: You can use Realm without creating an account. In that case we create an anonymous account for you, without an email address. If you choose to create an account, we collect your email address, or the identifier provided by Sign in with Apple or Google, via Supabase Auth.
Practice Data: We store the practice data you create, including song titles, artist names, BPM, practice stages, song sections, practice notes, saved links, and your practice goal.
Timestamps: We record the start and end times of your practice sessions to help you track your progress.
Usage Data: We record how you use the app, such as:
which screens and features you open
the steps you complete during onboarding and your answers there
when you start and finish a practice session and how long it lasts
when you use tools like the metronome, timer or Find
Each event is stored with a timestamp and linked to your account. We do not record the content of your notes, the links you save, or anything you type.
Music Metadata: We use the Apple Music API to let you search for songs. We do not access your personal Apple Music library, subscription status, or listening history.
Technical Data: We collect crash reports and performance data to improve the app. This may include device type, OS version, and anonymised stack traces. Your email address is never included in crash reports.
IP Addresses: Supabase, our database provider, may log IP addresses as part of standard server operations.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your account and practice data to provide the app's core features, such as tracking your progress, syncing across your devices, and reminding you to practise.
We use usage data only to understand how Realm is used and to improve it, for example to see which features people find and where they get stuck. This data stays in our own database. It is not shared with advertisers or data brokers, not combined with data from other apps or websites, and never used for advertising.
Legal basis: We process your account and practice data to perform our agreement with you, which is providing the app. We process usage data and crash reports on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it.
4. Data Storage and Location
Your data is securely stored using Supabase. Our database is hosted in the EU-West (Ireland) region.
5. Third-Party Services
We do not sell your data. We only use the following third-party services to make the app work:
Supabase: For authentication and database storage, including the usage data described above.
Apple Music API: For song search.
Google Gemini: Used to generate practice structures for songs and to look up a song's original tempo. Only song metadata (title and artist) is sent. No personal or account information is included in these requests.
Sentry: For crash reporting and performance monitoring. Sentry receives anonymised technical data only. No personally identifiable information is shared.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your data.
In-App Deletion: You can delete your account at any time via the "Delete Account" button in the Profile section. This removes your account, your practice data, and your usage data.
Inactive Guest Accounts: Anonymous accounts that have not been used for 180 days are deleted automatically, together with their practice data. Usage data from these accounts may be kept for analysis, but it is no longer connected to any account or person.
Song Feedback: When you answer whether a song's sections or tempo are correct, that answer helps all users. It is kept after your account is deleted, but it is no longer connected to any account.
Manual Request: You can also request deletion of your data by contacting us at support@joinrealm.app.
7. Children's Privacy
Realm is not intended for use by children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, please do not use the app.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:
access, correct, or delete your personal data
